How accessible this website is

The following issues have been resolved where possible, however, a limited number of pages may still be affected.

  • The system will automatically time out after 20 minutes of inactivity, the user may lose data and need to restart their form.

Technical information about this website’s accessibility

Welsh Government is committed to making its website accessible, in accordance with the Public Sector Bodies (Websites and Mobile Applications) (No. 2) Accessibility Regulations 2018.

Compliance status

This website is partially compliant with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines version 2.2 AA standard, due to ‘the non-compliances and exemptions’ listed below.

Non-accessible content

The content listed below is non-accessible for the following reasons:

Non-compliance with the accessibility regulations

In some pages, it has been identified there is inappropriate use of ARIA, resulting in excessive information being provided to people using a screen reader. This fails WCAG2.1 success criterion 4.1.2 (Name, Role, Value) and 1.3.1 (Info and Relationships).

The system will automatically time out after 20 minutes of inactivity, potentially resulting in the loss of data. The user has no option to disable or extend this time limit. This fails WCAG 2.2 success criterion 2.2.1 (Timing Adjustable).

What we’re doing to improve accessibility

We are looking to resolve the inappropriate use of Aria, and we aim to have it resolved in the near future.

The current iteration of the service does not allow the User to extend or disable the 20-minute timeout when completing an application. We have yet to identify a solution to this; however, users will be warned before entering an application and advised of the information they will require ahead of time.
